Australian Cycling Academy – Statement on future direction
Delivering a world class U23 program has become increasingly difficult over the past years. Global economic pressures have increased teams’ running costs, while at the same time there has been a significant increase in investment going into other European U23 programs. For the ACA, it has become increasingly difficult to keep up the standard required to provide the program we know needs to be delivered.
So, from 2025, the ACA is proud to announce that we will focus solely on the future development of Australian Junior U19 riders.
Young Australian riders currently face challenges that are vastly different to the riders of the previous generation. To gain access to the top WorldTour development programs, it’s now crucial that U19 riders can gain exposure to European racing and get results at this level. To achieve this, riders need to source a team and get themselves to Europe as high school students.
This change in direction for the ACA means we can fulfil a critical stepping stone for young riders that will allow them to continue to complete their schooling, while providing a world class racing program designed around young Australian’s riders unique needs, that aligns perfectly with our Academy ethos; live, learn, ride.
EOI’s are now open to join in 2025.
