ARA Pro Racing Sunshine Coast’s Ruby Roseman-Gannon and InForm TMX Make’s Brenton Jones crowned overall winners of the inaugural USC Cycle Sunshine Coast
Showcasing some of Australia’s most talented cyclists the National Road Series returned for the first time since July with the four-stage event set in Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
It was ARA Pro Racing Sunshine Coast’s (ARA) Ruby Roseman-Gannon weekend taking out all four stages of the event in the women’s and InForm TMX Make’s (ITM) Brenton Jones managed to claim 1st in Stages One, Three and Four.
The tour kicked off with Stage One ARA Group Maroochydore Street Crit a fast-paced criterium under lights with over 150 riders racing the 900m loop for 60 minutes plus three laps.
The masters set the tone for the evening followed by the women’s NRS race with ARA’s Ruby Roseman-Gannon claiming 1st place in a tight finish with Josie Talbot and ARA rider Anya Louw.
In an exciting crit for the men ITM’s Brenton Jones crossed the line first followed by BridgeLand’s Jensen Plowright and individual rider Elliot Schult.
Day two saw riders descend onto Peachester for Stage Two Australian Valuers Peachester Road Race. The ladies raced over 90km (five laps), with a total elevation gain of 1225m and men 162km (eight laps), with a hefty elevation profile of 1960m.
It’s not surprise she’s been snapped up by the WorldTour, Ruby Roseman-Gannon once again claimed the stage win hotly contested in the final laps by Nicky Rolls, Georgie Whitehouse, Amber Pate and Anya Louw.
An action-packed race amongst the large field of men saw Team BridgeLane’s Matthew Dinham chase down the breakaway along with the 2 min 25 sec time gap from the peloton in the final laps of the stage.
The final day of USC Cycle Sunshine Coast on Sunday hosted Stage Three MacKellar Group North Arm Road Race and finally the USC ITT.
ITM’s Brenton Jones and ARA’s Ruby Roseman-Gannon dominated the field yet again with the help from their respective teams.
Winners of the inaugural USC Cycle Sunshine Coast, as well as the 2021 NRS, were decided at the USC campus with two laps of a 3.1km course for the USC ITT.
InForm TMX MAKE’s Brenton Jones proved fastest for the men 7:42.62 and ARA Pro Racing Sunshine Coast Ruby Roseman-Gannon claimed the fastest time for the women with 8:26.13.
The winning National Road Series teams were both ARA for the men and the women for both the USC Cycle Sunshine Coast tour.
The overall National Road Series 2021 results were also announced at the end of the weekend with ARA ladies once again dominating the podium.
The overall series winner was Ruby Rosman-Gannon, U23 Young Rider Classification was Anya Louw and the ARA Pro Racing Sunshine Coast women’s team also took the overall Teams Classification.
Teams will now gear up for Nationals in January.
